SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE FRIDAY AT MERRITTVILLE

By Tommy Goudge (September 10, 2015) - London, Ontario - The final points-paying event of the 20th season of Southern Ontario Sprints tour racing will take place this Friday when the tour heads back to Merrittville Speedway for the first time since 2010.

Mitch Brown is going after his first SOS title, and leads the championship standings by 135 points heading into the event. 5-time and defending SOS champion Glenn Styres is 2nd in the standings, followed by 2013 champ Chris Jones, 2-time champ Keith Dempster, Cory Turner, Jamie Turner, 2015 Rookie of the Year candidate Ryan Turner, 2014 Rookie of the Year Shawn Sliter, Frank Baranowski, and Mike Ferrell.

The event on Friday, September 11 will be the 12th round of the 2015 calendar, and the only visit to Merrittville for the SOS tour in 2015. Rev's Full Throttle Powersports presents the event, which also includes the TUSA Canadian Modified Lite Championship Weekend at the 1/3 mile oval, located on Merrittville Highway just south of St. Catharines, Ontario.

The SOS tour has raced at Merrittville 5 times since 2001, with Rick Wilson's 2 wins topping the all-time list. Billy Krull, Warren Mahoney, and Kevin Job have also claimed wins at Merrittville.

The Southern Ontario Sprints season will officially finish next weekend at Ohsweken Speedway, as the SOS is proud to again be an affiliate sanction for the 11th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals on September 18 and 19.
